Now for a little nostalgia.
I forgot how good I had it back in Arkansas. How’s that you say? I had a Drive-In theater. Oh how I miss those days, my dad would prepare by Windexing the windshield windows, grab all the blankets we could find, and make a run for the EZ Mart before heading into the theater.
Perhaps it slipped my mind or that the thought that Californians are too busy for this kind of thing, it never occured to me when I moved out here to find another. And then that thought process just evolved into me thinking that there were no drive-in theaters around here.
But to my surprise I was wrong. Very very wrong. Turns out there in fact 2 drive-ins around. Oh the joy and excitement I felt when I discovered this.
So of course I had to go. I went last Saturday to the location in Concord and saw the new Resident Evil movie. (Which by the way is just like the others, zombies, shooting, etc).
I ran into a couple thoughts and concerns though as to how I am going to carry out my new Drive-In hobby.
- My car’s lights turn on automatically, all the time. Day time running lights. This could be an annoyance say if I had to leave mid movie. Nothing critical I know, but I like to be considerate.
- Now that I’m an ‘adult’ most of my friends have cars. So who’s car do we take? I went into minute details with one friend and concluded that we take my car because it was more ‘upright’(?). Odd. I need more friends with trucks. Grey trucks. Trucks that are sometimes parked in San Francisco. In the Mission.
So yay. Drive-ins are still around. Please support your local drive-in and back seat makeouts. That is all.
