Worst Intersection Evrrrr.
I’ve always hated the intersection at Gilman St. and 580 in Berkeley. Why? Well I’ll show you.

But as you can see there are seven points where traffic feeds into this little intersection. And there are no traffic signals to speak of. None what so ever. I try to avoid this intersection as much as possible. I expressed this ‘fondness’ of this intersection to someone before and they said “What are you talking about? I love it, how everyone has to give and take and how they compromise” or some bullshit like that. I don’t talk to that person anymore. Too hippie for me. But this intersection is incredibly busy, bring in Gilman traffic, feeding into 580 West and East, along with the off ramp of each. Then and Frontage Road and the Eastshore Freeway. Ridiculous!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not picky about where I apply the hate, take this intersection for example. Six points of traffic and one little light. Not to mention that this is on a hill, and on a curve. The pedestrian light has no love, that only turns on about once every five minutes. And when its time for Adell to get its light, it only get a yellow blinky light.
What are some of your least favorite intersections? Be it on foot or in car, share the love.
